Future of Farming Workshop, 2nd September, Dalwallinu Bowling Club

The Liebe Group has been successful in receiving funding from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture Fisheries & Forestry under its Australia's Farming Future Initiative and supporting funds from GRDC to raise awareness and assist growers in dealing with the threat of climate change.

As a result of this we are conducting a unique scenario planning exercise to explore a range of plausible scenarios for the future. Specifically, we will examine the question:

“Taking into account potential impacts of climate change, what are a range of plausible scenarios for farming and future farming systems, in the NAR in 2025?”

The aims of the scenario planning exercise are:

  • Raise awareness and knowledge of growers about potential impacts of climate change and implication for farming and cropping systems;
  • Stimulate open discussion of different options and to enable thinking about a range of different, plausible futures;
  • Use the scenarios as a ‘framework’ against which current assumptions, proposals or projects could be compared; and to begin thinking about response strategies to various climate change outcomes for growers in the NAR;
  • Indicate what research is still required to prepare for farming in the next 15 years.

The workshop is titled, ‘The Future of Farming – Agriculture in the NAR in 2025’ and is set for Wednesday the 2nd of September at the Dalwallinu Bowling Club. Click here to download the Future of Farming flyer.
